THE EARLY DAYS 1942 Founded as Tokushima Meat Processing Plant on the island of Shikoku, Japan 1951 The company recognized to form Tokushima Ham Co., Ltd. 1963 Merged with Torisei Ham Co., Ld., changed the company name to Nippon Meat Packers, Inc. (now NH Foods Ltd.) 1977 Began overseas expansion with acquisition of Day-Lee Meats, Inc., of Los Angeles, USA (now Day-Lee Foods, Inc.) 1981 Entered the marine foods processing business with acquisition of the Marine Foods Corporation. 1984 Entered freeze dried foods business with the acquisition of Nippon Dry Foods Co., Ltd. 1985 Launched the highly acclaimed ‘Schau Essen’ pork sausage. 1988 Implemented an integrated system from production to marketing of fresh meats overseas with purchase of the Whyalla Feedlot (Australia) 1992 Launched the yogurt and lactic acid probiotic beverages business. 1995 Established Nippon Pure Food, Inc. to bolster natural flavouring business. 2015 Purchased shares in Turkish company Ege-Tav (Ege Tarim Hayvancilik Yatirim Ticaret ve Sanayi Anonim Sirketi) to bolster overseas operations. IN THE UK 1989 Started an office in London exporting meat to Asia 2013 With support from Dusseldorf, German office, NH Foods UK is now additionally responsible for importing foodstuffs from Japan and Asia for the European and Middle Eastern markets.
