Ed. Haas CZ s.r.o.

HISTORY It all started about 100 years ago, when the Austrian doctor Eduard Haas invented Haas baking powder - then a novelty in the field of nutrition that broke all boundaries. He entered the history of the company as Edward I. Edward II. then he established a general store and boasted the status of a royal supplier. His son, Edward III, became a real factory owner over time. With his instinct for the practical aspects of life, he began at a young age with the production of Haas baking powder, which his grandfather prescribed as medicine. Edward III he started selling it in his father's shop. It quickly spread among customers that cakes and buns were lighter, creamier and much better baked with baking powder from a young Haas retailer. To improve sales, he came up with another idea, revolutionary at the time: to advertise in newspapers, and thus gave birth to one of the first advertising campaigns in the world. The year 1927 became a milestone in the history of the company's history: PEZ, a fine peppermint candy, saw the light of day. This candy, made from sugar and peppermint oil, was originally intended for higher layers. The name PEZ comes from the German word for peppermint, which is PfeffErminZ . A little later came the PEZ figurine , which became the key to the brand's world markets. Already in two years, after great successes in Central Europe and Scandinavia, Edward III began. with the construction of the market in the USA and despite difficult conditions it prevailed against the competition. In 1955, 350 million PEZ figures were sold. At the beginning of the 60's, PEZ figurines, and thus the whole brand, began to focus more and more on children. In 1962, the first licensing contract was signed with Walt Disney, and PEZ figures by Duck Donald and Myšák Mickey begin their triumphant march around the world . Since then, PEZ figures have been transformed many times and are still transforming into popular children's characters. Even today, they are becoming popular collector's items. The Czechoslovak subsidiary Haas sro was founded in 1991 and a year later it was already operating on the market. After the division of the republic, the company was also divided into Czech and Slovak and Slovcandy Haas sro was established. In 1994, the company's first foreign brand appeared in the company's portfolio - Chewits. This makes the company a distributor of branded goods. By the end of the 1990s, other brands such as Cadbury Fingers and Fisherman's Friend were added to Chewits. The company focuses on impulse sales. The new century brings a new organization in the structure of the parent Ed. Haas Nährmittel GmbH. and thus the renaming of the Czech company to Ed. Haas CZ sro and Slovak at Ed.
